OMS 20 vs. Holmen 8

The 8th grade football team traveled to Holmen last night and came home with a 20 - 8 victory.  It was a strong finish to a great football season that ended with a record of 5 - 2.  Alex Gumz got the Hilltoppers on the board first by returning a Holmen punt 65 yards for a touchdown.  Alex also scored later in the 1st half on a 27 yard run from scrimmage. Ryan Williams connected with Cameron Robbert for a 7 yard touchdown pass and catch on the last play of the 1st half to give the Hilltoppers a 20 - 8 halftime lead.  The second half was a hard-hitting defensive battle as each team threatened, but neither team scored.  OMS kept Holmen out of the endzone during two long drives deep into Onalaska territory.  Christian Rombaoa once again had some big tackles for losses, and Jake Cornish recovered a fumble for the second game in a row.  Everybody once again got into the action and contributed to a true team victory.

Special thanks to Mr. and Mrs. Snyder for bringing us water at halftime.  Our water bottles got left by the front door when we got on the bus, so during the 1st half the guys were getting water from the 5 gallon jug we had brought along to refill the water bottles (which we left at school!).

Great season, guys!
