Architecture -CAD/Architecture
Emphasizes computer aided drafting using Chief Architect 3-dimensional software. Students develop and architectural set of construction drawings including floor plans, foundations, elevations, details, roof, and landscape designs. Students will also utilize 3-dimensional skills along with layout design for residential use. The objectives for this course are as follows:
- Understand and navigate the Chief Architect software.
- Explain the differences between 2-D and 3-D design.
- Understand the X, Y, and Z coordinates.
- Place objects according to industry standards.
- Define and apply layers to designs.
- Plot drawings.
- Establish and manipulate drawing files.
- Draw complex shapes.
- Use the design library.
- Understand the construction layout.
- Understand construction steps and terminology.
- Explore career opportunities within Architecture and Building Construction.
This is one of the most popular classes within the KHS Technology & Engineering Education department and many of our students have gone on to schools listed on the right side of this page.
