Online Subscriptions for Home and School
BadgerLink is a project of the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DPI), Division for Libraries, Technology, and Community Learning. BadgerLink contracts with five vendors (EBSCO, ProQuest, Thomson Gale, NewspaperARCHIVE, and TeachingBooks) to provide access to articles from thousands of newspaper and periodical titles, image files, and other specialized reference materials and websites. Users can find access to over 11,000 periodical titles and over 700 newspapers (including Wisconsin newspapers), children’s and adult literature, business, medical, and education sources, and many other specialized resources not available through regular internet search engines. BadgerLink also connects users to WISCAT (the online catalog of Wisconsin library holdings) OCLC WorldCat (an international database of library holdings), directories of libraries, access to library digitized collections, and other information.
BrainPop. (Username = stormonthbp; Password = brainpop). Founded in 1999, BrainPOP creates animated, curriculum-based content that engages students, supports educators, and bolsters achievement. Award-winning online educational resources include BrainPOP Jr. (K-3), BrainPOP, BrainPOP Español, and BrainPOP ESL.
Culture Grams (Username=stormonth; Password=library) is an online resource that helps students explore the culture, history, and geography of our country and the world. Click on “State Edition” to tour the 50 U.S. states and the District of Columbia in these fun reports filled with facts, symbols, timelines, and more. Click on “Kids Edition” to get a kid’s-eye view of 68 countries, featuring cultural and geographical information, history, maps, flags, and colorful images.
netTrekker d.i. (Username=storm11; Password=storm11) is an award-winning search engine for schools. netTrekker supports differentiated instruction with standards-based, teacher-reviewed online resources that are also searchable by readability level. To use this resource from home, students and parents must first register with netTrekker via this link to their home page.
TumbleBooks Library. (Username = Stormonth; Password = books).
TumbleBookLibrary is an online collection of TumbleBooks – animated, talking picture books which teach kids the joy of reading in a format they'll love. TumbleBooks are created by adding animation, sound, music and narration to existing picture books in order to produce an electronic picture book which you can read, or have read to you.
World Book Kids (Username=foxbay Password=foxbay) is designed especially for younger users, English-language learners, and reluctant readers. With content from the award winning World Book Student Discovery Encyclopedia, the site offers simpler navigation, easier-to-read content, brighter colors, and a graphical design. Students also have the ability from this site to link to the traditional version of The World Book Encyclopedia.
